Hello and welcome to the sale of this lovely Triumph TR4. This locally owned car has been with it's last retired engineer owner for several years, in which time it has been very well maintained and upgraded to make it an excellent usable survivor example.

It has a large history and photo file documenting work carried out over the years. The bodywork has clearly been subject to a restoration some years ago, with a few light age related marks and patina here and there, with no notable corrosion concerns or anything requiring immediate attention. However, sadly the paint has reacted when being sprayed a long time ago, and there is some pigmentation / reaction to most of the exterior paintwork, as can be seen in some of the close up photos. It looks absolutely fine from a short distance, but close up you can see it would warrant improvement with an exterior respray if desired. This has been accounted for in the asking price, as otherwise this car would be north of £20k, in my opinion. It would be ideal for someone that wants a cheaper car to improve in their own time, maybe a colour change or a competition car that will be covered in stickers anyway! Thankfully all the under bonnet and interior paintwork is absolutely lovely, and obviously painted at a different time, so it really is the exterior paint only for improvement.

It has a very smart set of nearly new chrome wire wheels with good tyres. All the brightwork, grilles and trims are in good order, with nothing missing or broken, and the bumpers were replaced with new stainless steel items very recently. It has a tow bar which was more fitted for decorative purposes, I would not advise towing a heavy load with it but a small camping trailer or bike rack would be fine.

The sought after Surrey Top is very presentable and in good working order, with a contrasting white roof panel. The black interior is in great condition, with a very smart wood dash and matching door cappings, and a cool Moto-Lita 3 spoke steering wheel.
All the instrument dials appear to be in good working order. The mileage shows at 80k, as with most classic cars please take this as unwarranted simply due to the age and lack of ability to verify.

Under the bonnet, everything is present and correct, with a great degree of detail and many recent new parts fitted, including a new brake servo and radiator. The engine fires straight up and sounds fantastic with a nice throaty tone through the upgraded stainless steel exhaust system. On the road it provides good power delivery through the 4 speed gearbox and fully working overdrive, providing more than adequate performance to keep up and cruise with modern traffic. The ride is comfortable and compliant with no harsh knocks or bangs, and it pulls up sharp and square under braking.

Underneath, the chassis and floorpans are very clean, tidy and in a reassuringly solid condition, with no cause for concern or any dodgy under seal covering up anything undesirable. It is of course both tax and MOT exempt making it a very simple ownership prospect. To sum up, this is a very cool looking, tastefully and thoughtfully improved example of this desirable classic British convertible, in great condition throughout, ready to enjoy and improve as desired and I am sure the new owner will be very pleased.
