Hello and welcome to the sale of this simply stunning RV8, finished in classic Woodcote green metallic with a beautiful cream leather interior. Originally manufactured and exported to Japan in 1995, this RV8 returned to the UK & was re-registered in the on 1/10/2008. It has then gone on to enjoy an extremely pampered life in enthusiast hands until the present day. It has been with it’s last local owner for some 6 years, who was a retired engineer and it has subsequently benefited from lots of attention to detail, methodical maintenance and some tasteful improvements ensuring the car is always in tip top condition, with an extensive folder full of receipts & invoices going right back to previous ownership and importation. Other items in the file include a factory heritage certificate and hard to find original sales brochures. The car was also featured in the MG enthusiast magazine in spring 2019, a copy of which accompanies the car. It has has covered an incredibly low 23,000 miles total. The original kms speedo was replaced with a UK correct MPH one which is fully documented in the history file with receipts. It also has UK spec bumpers with the correct size UK number plate and recesses. In essence this car has been ‘de-Japanesed’ and now looks like the prettier UK spec car. The air conditioning that was standard fitment on Japanese specification cars (but optional on UK ones) has been removed to improve access in the engine compartment and interior, and the car benefits from many sensible mechanical upgrades including electric power steering, composite cylinder head gaskets, replacement fuel pump & ignition coil, replacement crankshaft & transmission seals, replacement clutch and replacement Spax dampers all round to name just a few. The car also features a highly detailed engine bay, with beautiful black MG rocker covers to match the plenum chamber and a carbon fibre fan cover, along with various other performance and reliability enhancing parts such as a K&N air filter and electric cooling fan set up. All original parts have been retained and are included with the sale. On the exterior, the beautiful Woodcote green metallic paint is in superb condition and retains an incredibly deep shine. Likewise the cream leather interior is in excellent order with no rips or tears. The car still wears its original hood, again in fine condition and with a clear rear window. It is very clean and dry inside with no bad odours. It also comes with it’s original tonneau cover and the hard to source wind break accessory. It has a genuine MG radio and the original mats which are still in great order. The original split rim style alloy wheels are in near perfect condition, and are well shod with premium Michelin tyres all round with great tread. When it comes to actually driving the car, it starts easily from hot or cold and idles smoothly. There is plenty of effortless torque on tap and the engine sounds just superb through the stainless steel exhaust system. Likewise, the clutch and 5 speed manual gear change all operate exactly as they should. It pulls up square under braking and the upgraded suspension feels taught with no unwanted noise or vibrations. We have just carried out a workshop safety inspection on the car and a new MOT. To sum up, if you crave a great British sports car but like a degree of modern comforts, an RV8 is a fine choice.
