Hello and welcome to the sale of this amazing 1965 Cadillac Fleetwood. As you can imagine, not everybody would have been in the position to own this top of the range car in 1965, and this particular example was sold to it's Doctor owner in Ohio, who would go on to cherish it for the following 35+ years until it's import into the UK in the early 2000s. The car has clearly never been restored and remains in a good, used, 'survivor' condition throughout. The car is very straight and undamaged, with just very genuine signs of wear and tear from use and enjoyment over many decades. The structure is sound with no rust or rot issues underneath, bar a few odd scabs on the exterior panels here and there. The paintwork overall presents very well with a good shine, with a couple of flat spots on the roof and bonnet where it is simply showing it's age. The chromework is complete and all there, although the typical pitting can be found on closer inspection. The beautifully retro blue crushed cloth interior is again in great overall condition, with just some signs of wear as you would expect. The headlining is in decent condition as are the plush carpets. There are some incredible period state of the art features that are still working including the electric front and rear quarterlight windows! The car starts, runs and drives very well indeed. The car is showing just 49k miles, and when looking back through the US history with the car, could happily be considered genuine. The 7.0 V8 petrol engine runs very smoothly and gives a lovely understated growl. The power steering and power brakes are all working well with a positive feel, and the car tracks straight and true on the road and pulls up square under braking. There is evidence that the gearbox has recently been replaced with a new / recon unit and it is working very well. We have just conducted a service on the car and it is ready to drive away. To sum up, whilst not in concourse condition, this car has enormous appeal to someone looking for a very rare and cool full size American car that is ready to use and enjoy regularly. It is also of course tax and mot exempt under the 40 year rule, making ownership simple and cost effective. The car attracts much positive attention and will be sure to pull a crowd whatever the occasion!
